Nokia announces N1 Android tablet running Lollipop, priced at $249
At Slush 2014, an event for startups and tech companies held in Helsinki, the Finnish telecommunications giant Nokia unveiled the Nokia N1, an Android tablet. Nokia has partnered with Foxconn for building the N1 Tablet and has licensed the manufacturing, Nokia brand.
Earlier this year Nokia sold its phone business to Microsoft. Now the company has found a way to get back into the hardware business by foraying into tablets. The Tablet runs Android Lollipop and comes with the Z Launcher, which was released earlier in beta format. The Z launcher uses a "scribble" feature that can search anything on the phone "in as little as one second." With Scribble, users just need to draw the first letter of the search and it finds the related app, contact or task.
The Nokia N1 tablet features a 7.9-inch (2048x1536 pixel) IPS LED-backlit display protected by Gorilla Glass 3,and is powered by a 64-bit 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 processor with a PowerVR G6430 GPU and 2GB of LPDDR3 (800MHz) RAM. It tablet comes with 32GB of inbuilt storage which is non-expandable.
Camera features include an 8-megapixel rear autofocus camera with 1080p video recording, and a 5-megapixel fixed focus camera. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/n/ac with MIMO, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB with reversible Type-C connector, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The tablet weighs 318 grams, and measures 200.7x138.6x6.9mm. The device is powered by 5300mAh battery.
The Nokia N1 will cost $249 (around Rs. 15,400) before taxes, and will be made available in other markets globally.
