Samsung's Tizen Based Z1 Smartphone Will Be 'Made In India'

South Korean tech major Samsung plans to manufacture the Tizen powered Z1 phone in India. According to Samsung' VP Asim Varsi, the manufacturing process will take place in Samsung's Noida plant in Uttar Pradesh.

The Noida facility has a capacity of producing over four-million handsets a month and manufactures both affordable and high-end devices here.

The Samsung Z1 was launched in India on January 21, since then the company has sold about 50,000-55,000 units. India is the first market globally, to get the Tizen-powered Z1 . With a price tag of Rs. 5700, it is one of the most affordable handsets. Samsung is offering localised entertainment app and simple UI with the Tizen platform.

Targeted at first time buyer, the Tizen-powered Samsung Z1  features a 4-inch WVGA PLS display and is powered by 1.2GHz dual core processor with Mali 400 GPU paired with 768MB RAM and 4GB inbuilt storage [microSD card support upto 64GB]. The handset runs Samsungs home grown Tizen 2.3 OS.

Camera features include 3.1-megapixel rear camera an 0.3-megapixel front camera which include features like Dream Shot and auto face detect. It is backed by a 1500mAh battery. Connectivty features include 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.1.

Asim Varsi also said that the Samsung Z1 will soon be launched in Bangladesh.
