Android Lollipop Update Coming to Android One Smartphones In India

Google announced that the Android One Smartphones in India will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the next few weeks. The update will be available for all three Android One smartphoness - Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V and Spice Dream UNO.

Android Lollipop version 5.0 was launched in November 2014, and Android One users were due to receive the update as early as possible. Android One users were promised that they would be the first to receive updates. Companies like HTC, Motorola, Samsung and LG has already strted rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update to some of their smartphones. The Nexus smartphones and tablets received their updates at first.

Google has been criticized to have failed to fulfill it promises, that Android One handsets would be getting regular software updates just like the Nexus devices.

Google also announced that it will launch its Android One initiative in Indonesia soon. The first three Android One smartphones that will launch in Indonesia are Evercross One X, Mito Impact and Nexian Journey.Interestingly the three devices will run Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.

It may be possible that Google will be rolling out Android 5.1 update instead of Android 5.0 to Android One smartphones in India. We will find out more in the coming weeks.
