Archos unveils new educational range devices to support France's "Grand Digital for Schools Project"
French based company Archos has unveiled their educational range devices that include a 9-inch and 10-inch tablet with detachable keyboard and a 11.6-inch Chromebook and 14-inch notebook.
The launch of these devices is Archos contribution to France's "Grand Digital for Schools Project". The projects aim is to give 50,000 tablets and laptops to middle and high school students by the end of 2015 and over a million such devices per year from 2016 onwards.
According to the company the tablets and notebooks are designed to be extra rugged. It is guarded by protective covers designed and developed to withstand daily wear and tear of a school environment
The 2-in-1 tablets with 9-inch and 10-inch HD display will be powered by an quad-core 1.8GHz Intel CPU and will feature 2GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage. The tablets will be equipped with 2-megapixel rear camera and 0.3-megapixel front facing camera. The tablets will be available either Android or Windows 8.1 Pro software. It comes with detachable keyboard. The 9-inch tablet is priced at 200 Euros and the 10-inch tablet is priced Euro 250.
The company also unveiled an 11.6-inch Chromebook and 14-inch Windows 8 laptop will have a quad-core 1.8GHz Intel CPU and a 0.3-megapixel VGA front camera. The Chromebook will have 2GB RAM and 64GB internal storage while the Windows 8 laptop will have 4GB RAM and 250GB HDD drive. The Chromebook will sell for 250 Euros while the 14-inch Windows laptop will cost 300 Euros.
Note that the institution where the devices will be offered have the option to choose the required software and the screen size according to their needs.

- Applications Kiosk: For Android tablets, ARCHOS will offer an applications Kiosk grouping together the best education applications available on the Google Play store. The educator can easily access content adapted to their curriculum and lessons.
- Preloaded Content: ARCHOS will let each academy create their own digital work space by preloading on each tablet or computer links to their own work space.
- Fleet Management: solutions adapted to allow local administrators to manage the installed tablet or notebook remotely.
