Google's Android devices will come with USB Type-C Ports in the "near future"
The USB Type-C port that featured on Apple's latest MacBook and Google's Chromebook Pixel will in the future support Android phones. Product manager Adam Rodriguez said that the company was "very committed" to the new USB spec and that both Android phone and Chromebook in the "near future" could see its adaptation.
With USB Type-C device makers can eliminate the need for multiple ports which also reduces number of cables running from a machine. USB Type-C delivers power, display and high speed data through over the same connector and cable. It features a symmetrical design that is small enough to work with smartphones and powerful enough to charge your computers or connect other devices. USB Type-C cable will also be able to transfer data at a top speed of 10 gigabits per second.
It is possible that the next nexus device will feature the USB Type-C port.
