HTC reveals its first wearable Fitness Tracking Smartband 'Grip'


HTC unveiled it first wearable fitness tracker dubbed Grip under the partnership with Under Armour.

Grip is powered by UA Record a health and fitness network from Under Armour designed for athletes and fitness enthusiasts. It also connects to an assortment of external heart rate monitors, including the Under Armour A39. The Grip is capable of tracking and recording a variety of workouts and also monitors sleep

HTC's Grip features a 1.8-inch 32x160 pixel PMOLED mono flexible display with capacitive touch input. It is powered by STM32L151QDH6 processor and comes with 16MB of storge and 8MB of SRAM. It is backed by 100mAh rechargable battery that is rated to deliver up to 2.5 days of battery life and 5 hours of battery life with GPS activated. It runs on HTC's proprietory RTOS operating system.

Grip is compatible with Android and iOS devices and provides  incoming call and message notifications, and allows music playback control. Other features include GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, IP57 certification for dust and water resistance. It can be immersible in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. With MIL-STD 810G, its is shock resistant. It also has sensors onboard that include a sensor hub, g-sensor, gyroscope, compass, GPS, light sensor. 

The HTC Grip will be available in Deep Teal or Lime Colour options and will come in small, medium and large size. It will be available at select retailer stored in North America beginning Spring 2015. Pricing details and rest of the world availabilty details are not yet revealed.
