Microsoft reveals minimum hardware requirements for Windows 10 For phones and desktops

At WinHEC conference in Shenzen, China, Microsoft revealed the minimum hardware requirements for Windows 10 for phones and Windows 10 for desktop.

For a Windows 8.1 handset to run Windows Phone 10, the minimum RAM is listed as 512MB and the minimum storage requaired is 4GB. For Windows Phones with 4GB storage, an SD card is required to support future updates.

Windows 10 for phones will support display sizes from 3-inches and go up to 7.99 inches. The new OS requires minimum RAM for devices based in screen resolution. For full HD display devices 2GB RAM is requaired, for qHD (960x540), WXGA (1366x768) and WSVGA (1024x600) displays 1GB RAM is required. For lower resolutions such as WVGA (800x480) and FWVGA (854x480) the RAM requairement is 512MB.

Microsoft also announced that Windows 10 for phone will support several new SoC's that include Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with octa-core CPU paired with Adreno 430 GPU and LTE 9 connectivity, hexa-core Snapdragon 808, Snapdragon 615, Snapdragon 210 and Snapdragon 208.

The Windows 10 for Phone update will release this summer (between June and August) in 190 countries and 111 languages. 

For Windows 10 for desktop 32-bit edition, the minimum requirements are 16GB storage space and 1GB RAM, for 64-bit version 20GB storage space and 2GB RAM is requaired.
