Microsoft says free Windows 10 upgrades for pirates will be 'non-genuine'
Yesterday Microsoft announced that Windows 10 would be free update to anyone running Windows 7 and 8 including those running pirated version of Windows.
Now Microsoft have provided more information and clarification on exactly what users running pirated versions of Windows will get. In a statement Microsoft said that "although non-Genuine PCs may be able to upgrade to Windows 10, the upgrade will not change the state of the license. It is not properly licensed, or supported by Microsoft or a trusted partner. If a device was considered non-genuine or mis-licensed prior to the upgrade, that device will continue to be considered non-genuine or mis-licensed after the upgrade."

In other words if you are running a unlicensed version of Windows 7 or Windows 8 software, you will still be able to update the software to Windows 10 but you will still be using unlicensed Windows software.
With this announcement, Microsoft has completely eliminated the need to pirate a software. It is free for everyone, but pirates won't be getting full benefit.
