Moto X (2015) to be released around September, no plans regarding tablets : Motorola President
Lenovo owned Motorola will be launching the third-gen Moto X later this year. In an 'Ask Me' session on Twitter, Motorola President Rick Osterloh confirmed that the company maintains tries to stay on annual product cycle including Moto X.
A Twitter user asked, "Can we expect the next generation Moto X to come out in the same time-frame of the past two years?" Osterloh replied saying, "We try to stay on a roughly annual cycle for all of our products including Moto X."
Since the previous generation of Moto X were introduced in August and September, that is when the company could launch the third-gen Moto X.
As of now there are no details of the third-gen Moto X, but last month Motorola and Qualcomm confirmed that Moto's 2015 flagship will be powered by Snapdragon 810 processor and the device would be introduced later this year.
Motorola also confirmed that they have no plans to introduce a tablet. However Motorola recommends customers to use parent company, Lenovo's tablet offering.
Another twitter user asked Osterloh, "Will Motorola get into the tablet space this year ?" to this, he replied "On Tablets, we don't have any plans, but Lenovo has lots of great offerings here (e.g., Yoga).".
To recall, Motorola's last tablets Xyboard 8.2 and Xyboard 10.1 were released in late 2011.
