NVIDIA shows off GeForce GTX TITAN X at GDC 2015
NVIDIA unveiled the company's next high performance GPU called the GeForce GTX Titan X. The GPU was introduced by NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang at Game Developers Conference 2015, San Francisco.
Jen-Hsun Huang said that the GeForce GTX Titan X has over eight billion transistors, built on the company's new Maxwell architecture. The GPU packs a massive 12GB of VRAM. No other details were revealed by the company.
“It’s the most advanced GPU the world has ever seen,” Jen-Hsun said
Also in the event Nvidia, Weta digital, Epic games and Oculus unveiled a virtual reality experience called "Thief in the shadow". It borrows effect from the second Hobbit movie, Desolation of Smaug. It uses Unreal Engine 4, Oculus Rift and the new NVIDIA GTX Titan X graphic card.
In Thief of shadows, players wade through coins, passing between stacks of gold ingots and exploring subterranean crevices, all under the guard of Smaug. It was claimed that the Titan X GPU was allowing it to run at 90 framers per second.
More details about the GeForce Titan X GPU will be revealed in two weeks time at NVIDIA’s GPU Technology Conference.
