Samsung's new VR headset works with Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge

Samsung at its 'Galaxy S6 unpacked' event on Sunday announced Gear VR Innovator edition that works with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. It is the successor to Gear VR that was announced last year for Galaxy Note 4.

The updated Gear VR Innovator Edition is now 15 percent lighter that will provide users a much longer enduring usage time and minimal pressure on the eyer as a result of lowered weight.

The Innovator Edition sports a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display. It has redesigned straps that will go around your head and can now be powered with its USB port for extended Usage time.

Samsung claims this newer version of the Gear VR headset will sport better graphics and improved performance. It also features 96-degree field-of-view and the 3 sensing units: accelerometer, distance sensor, and gyrometer.

Samsung has partnered with Oculus once again for the Gear VR Innovator Edition. Samsung states that you will not only use it for gaming, but also from media consumption. It will come in Frost White. 

Samsung did not reveal the pricing and availability details of the headset.
