Xiaomi Launches Low-Cost Yi Action Camera for $64

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi continues its journey into new markets. At MWC 2015, Barcelona, Xiaomi unveiled its first own action camera called the 'Yi Action Camera'.

The Yi Action Camera has a Sony Exmor R BSI CMOS 16-megapixel Pixel Sensor and records video and supports 1080p 60 FPS up to 720p 240 FPS video recording. It can operate in four modes that include Photo, Time-Lapse photo, Timed Photo and Video. The Yi Action camera packs an Ambarella A7LS processor and comes with 64GB internal storage.

The camera is made from PC + ABS (polycarbonate-ABS) and metal composite materials. Other features include Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth and Remote App control. The camera is waterproof for up to 40 meters underwater.

The images and videos snapped by the Yi Action Camera can be uploaded to social medias like Facebook, twitter within 10 seconds using the smartphone App. It will be available in Urban White or Jungle Green colour options.

Xioami's Yi Action camera will come in two edition - the Basic edition (camera only) that cost 399 Yuan (Rs. 3,900) and the Travel edition (camera+monopod) for 499 Yuan (Rs. 5000). The camera will only be available in china for the time being and can be purchased from Mi.com store.
