Apple upgrades 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro with Force Touch; Introduces cheaper Retina 5K iMac
Apple has launched an updated version of 15-inch Macbook Pro with Retina display. The updated version comes with new Force Touch trackpad that was first introduced in 13-inch Retina MacBook earlier this year. In addition the upgraded version also comes with a faster PCI-e based flash storage and improved battery life (deliver nine hours of mixed battery life)
For those who don't know, Force Touch is a feature that senses the level of force exerted on the trackpad. The Force Touch trackpad comes with built-in force sensors and a Taptic Engine that delivers haptic feedback. It also brings a new ‘Force Click’ gesture, that triggers various tasks with a deep press.
The 15-inch MacBook Pro comes in two configuration - the first model is powered by 2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with turbo boost up yo 3.4GHz. It comes with 256GB flash memory and Intel Iris Pro graphics. The second model comes with 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 CPU (turbo boost up to 3.7GHz), 512GB flash storage and 2GB AMD Radeon R9 M370X graphics card.
Both models of 15-inch MacBook Pro sports 15.4-inch LED-backlit IPS display 2880 x1800 pixels screen resolution. Other features include 16GB RAM, Face Time HD camera, stereo speaker, dual microphones. It houses two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI port, SDXC card slot, MagSafe 2 power port and two Thundebolt 2 ports.
Apple also introduced a cheaper variant of iMac with Retina 5K display. It features 3.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 that Turbo Boosts up to 3.7GHz, AMD Radeon R9 M290 GPU, 8GB RAM, 1TB storage, fours USB 3.0 ports and two Thunderbolt 2.0 ports.
The top of the line iMac with Retina 5K display comes with 3.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boosts up to 3.9GHz, AMD Radeon R9 M290X graphics and a 1TB Fusion Drive.
