Amazon launches new Kindle Paperwhite with 300ppi screen
Amazon has refreshed its Kindle Paperwhite e-book reader with an improved display and some new software features.
The refreshed model packs 6-inch screen with 300ppi display with built-in adjustable light for reading in dark. It also features a new Bookerly font, designed specifically for reading on digital screen. This helps users read faster and reduces eyestrain.
The all new type-setting engine brings hyphenation and natural word spacing. It also improves character spacing, which adjusts neighboring paired of letters to suit the word, removing unnecessary white space. The new Paperwhite also supports drop caps and adapts to larger font size automatically.
The new Kindle Paperwhite gives you a battery life of up to 6 weeks and supports WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and 3G connectivity. The regular suite of Kindle features are also available including Whispersync, X-Ray, Word Wise, Page Flip, Vocabulary builder and more.
At first, Amazon will simultaneously launch the new Kindle Paperwhite in the U.S and India. It is now up for pre-order on Amazon India. The WiFi only model is priced at Rs. 10,999 and the WiFi+3G model is priced at Rs. 13,999 and will start shipping on June 30. It will also be available in over 500 retail outlets across India.
