Asus ZenPad S 8 and ZenPad 8 tablets announced

Asus unveiled two 8-inch tablets at Computex 2015 - ZenPad 8 and ZenPad S 8. Both tablets run Android 5.0 Lollipop with ZenUI out of the box, comes with WiFi, LTE or 3G connectivity and  voice calling capabilities. The ZenPad S 8 comes with an optional Zen Stylus that offers 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity with a 1.2mm writing tip.

The Asus ZenPad 8 features 8-inch (1280 x 800) HD IPS display with Asus Tru2Life (software to improve video playback). Under the hood there is an Intel Atom x3-C3200 quad-core 64b-bit processor (WiFi) / 1.2Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor (4G). The ZenPad 8 comes in two RAM variants 1GB RAM or 2GB RAM and two storage variants 8GB and 16GB. There is also a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

Camera features include 5-megapixel rear camera with 1080p full HD video recording and 2-megapixel front facing camera. Connectivity options include 4G LTE or 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. A 4000mAh battery fuels the ZenPad 8.

ZenPad 8 sports embossed-leather patterning and polished metallic frame that gives it a premium look. It comes with 5.1 channel DTS sound technology with built in DTS-HD coder-decoder for high-fidelity sound. It also has DTS Sound Studio to transform stereo audio into virtual surround-sound through speakers or headphones for immersive experience.

Asus will also sell Zen Case, stylish accessor in five colors with leather texture, Audio cover for immersive 5.1 channel surround sound and power case that increases ZenPad 8.0's battery life with up to 15 hours of usage.

The Asus ZenPad S 8 sports 8-inch (2048 x 1536 pixels) 4:3 display with 178-degree viewing angle and is powered by 64-bit 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Atom 3580 processor paired with PowerVR G6430 GPU and 4GB RAM. It comes in three storage variants - 16GB, 32GB or 64GB with microSD card support.

Camera features include 8-megapixel rear camera with 1080p full HD video recording and 5-megapixel front facing camera. On the connectivity front it include support for 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB Type-C connector. A 15.2Wh battery runs the show on ZenPad S 8. It houses Dual front speakers with DTS HD premium sound with Sonic master technology.

Asus did not reveal the pricing and availability details.
