Commodore returns, puts retro computing style in your pocket with PET
Commodore was a famous company in the 1980s known for its legendary 8-bit Commodore 64 PC which sold over 10 million PCs. It ceased to exist back in 1994.
The Commodore trademark still exists and now belongs to a UK-based company and is called Commodore Business Machines Ltd. The company has launched an Android smartphone dubbed Commodore PET. It runs a custom version of Android Lollipop and comes preloaded with two retro game emulators - VICE C64 emulator and Uae4A112-SDL Agima emulator for some retro style gaming.
As for the specs, Commodore PET sports a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood there is an 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek processor paired with 2GB or 3GB RAM. On-board storage is 16GB/32GB, which is expandable. For clicking photos, there's a 13-megapixel rear facing camera and 8-megapixel front facing camera with dedicated shutter button. It is fueled by 3000mAh battery.
The Commodore PET with 2GB RAM/16GB storage is priced around $300 and the 3GB RAM/32GB storage model will cost $365. They comes bundled with free 32GB microSD cards in the box. Initially Comomodore PET will be available in Italy, France, Germany and Poland with plans to expand to the U.S and other European countries in the near future.
