OnePlus Cardboard VR headset will be available on July 3; India pricing, launch date revealed

The OnePlus 2 launch has to be one of the most awaited tech events of this year, as it will be launched in a different style never seen before. OnePlus had announced that, the OnePlus 2 will be unveiled on July 27 (July 28 in India) and it will take place at a Virtual Reality event, which is an industry first.

For this Occasion OnePlus designed its own Google Cardboard like VR headsets. Now the company has revealed the pricing for the Indian market. The OnePlus Cardboard will be available in India for Rs. 99 (shipping charges extra) via Amazon India starting third week of July. The exact sale date will be revealed on OnePlus's social channels.

For Global customers, the OnePlus Cardboard will be available starting July 3 and is free for anyone, but shipping charges apply. Right now, the company is organizing a giveaway, where 1,000 people get a chance to win OnePlus Cardboard for free (no shipping charges). You have to sign-in simply by filling your details in the form before the contest ends on July 3. Winners will be chosen at random.

For those unaware, Google Cardboard is a VR headset made out of cardboard which accomodates an Android smartphone inside. The OnePlus Cardboard meets Cardboard 2.0 features alongside featuring few more improvements. The Cardboard package despite being 20 percent smaller than Google's Cardboard offers the same amazing visual experience. It uses a stronger, thicker material and added high quality velcro for maximum durability, coated with a special film that repels dirt and oil. It is designed to fit the OnePlus One perfectly and is compatible with most devices up to 6-inches in size.

The OnePlus 2 launch date is set for July 27th at 7:00pm PT. For India it is July 28 at 7:30am. OnePlus has been dropping breadcrumbs every week, revealing OnePlus 2 features. Already confirmed specs include Qualcomm Snapdrgon 810 v2.1 SoC and USB Type-C port. The next feature of OnePlus 2 will be revealed on July 7.
