UMi Hammer S is a $130 phone with USB Type-C, fingerprint sensor
Chinese smartphone maker UMi is known for their budget offering UMi Iron smartphone. The main highlight of the handset was the retina scanner on the front. Now UMi is teasing a new smartphone with USB Type-C port, the UMi Hammer S.
The USB Type-C port has started to show up in laptops, smartphones and tablets. It is a new tiny reversible connector that eliminates hassles while plugging in smartphone to chargers or computers. The first few devices to accommodate USB Type-C are the Nokia N1 tablet, Apple's 2015 MacBook, Google's Chromebook Pixel and LeTV smartphones. The upcoming premium mobile products like OnePlus 2, Microsoft Lumia (flasgship model), Apple's 2015 iPhones and Galaxy Note 5 have been tipped to launch with USB Type-C ports.
Coming back to UMi Hammer S, the handset features 5.5-inch display and is powered by MediaTek 6735 processor paired with Mali-T720 GPU and 2GB RAM. On-board storage is 16GB. There is a rear camera with Dual-LED flash and a fingerprint sensor at the back. Rest of the specs are still a mystery.
The design of UMI Hammer S seems to be a mix of iPhone 6 and Meizu MX5. The render show a metal frame, and a screen-to-body ratio with no bezels.
The UMi Hammer S is expected to be announced in August and will retail at a price of US$ 129.99 (Rs. 8,000).
