Xiaomi sells 34.7 million smartphones in H1 2015

Xiaomi announced that it has sold 34.7 million smartphone in the first half half of 2015. This is 33 percent increase compared to last year's H1 sale, which was 26.1 million. 

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun last year said that, the company aims to sell 80 million to 100 million smartphone in 2015. To meet this goal Xiaomi will have to sell 45.3 million ton 63.3 million phones by end of December. The latest numbers cast doubt whether the company will achieve its full year target. Last year Xiaomi sold 61.12 million smartphone, exceeding the set target of 60 million.

Lei Jun, said- "Even with the China smartphone market slowing down, we did a stellar job of posting a 33% growth on last year’s numbers. It can be said that we outperformed the market and produced an excellent report card."

According Kevin Yang, an analyst for IHS, Xiaomi sold 14.98 million phones in Q1 and 19.72 million phones in Q2. During the first half Xiaomi released Mi Note Pro, Mi Note, Mi 4i and Redmi 2A. Xiaomi's second half protfolio include Mi 5, Mi 5 Plus and Redmi Note 2.

Xiaomi recently expanded to Brazil where it will build its device locally and act as a hub for Latin American region. Next in the list is Mexico and Colombia. The company also plans to expand to Turkey, Vietnam and Russia in future. Currently, Xiaomi sells its products in India, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia.

With competition getting brutal in China this year, because of stiff competition from Lenovo and Huawei, it remains to see whether Xiaomi will reach its sales target before 2015 ends.
