BlackBerry Venice Android Slider smartphone surfaces in renders and leaked videos
BlackBerry at MWC, Barcelona teased a dual-curved slider phone with large touch screen display. It got codenamed Venice back in June and was reportedly said to come with Android OS. We have already seen a render of the smartphone running Android Lollipop that surfaced in July. Now new renders and two alleged promo videos of the device has been leaked courtesy of @evleaks giving us a clear look at what we can expect from BlackBerry's first Android phone.
First up, the renders show nothing new. It is already what is known from the previous leaks- the design, a vertical slider revealing a hardware QWERTY keyboard. At its bottom is a speaker that remains visible when the slider is closed. The image only shows Google suite of apps on the screen. The other render shows Google Play Store, BlackBerry Hub, Content transfer and more.
As for the videos, the leaked clip shows off BlackBerry's first smartphone running Android iOS, the sliding mechanism of the device and highlights the camera component which has a dual-LED flash setup. It shows the BlackBerry Venice Slider in several angles. The second video shows of the Android UI of the phone and suggests that it will sport slightly curved display glass. The speaker grill will remain visible even when the slider is closed.
Based on earlier rumors BlackBerry Venice will have 5.4-inch Quad HD display, powered by 1.8GHz Hexa-core Snapdragon 808 64-bit processor with 3GB RAM. For imaging there is an 18-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front shooter.
The smartphone is said to be available through Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon in Novemeber. It is expected to be launched at IFA, Berlin next month.
