Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ India launch date set for August 19

Last week, at its Galaxy Unpacked 2015 event in New York, Samsung unveiled its latest flagship phablets, the Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 edge+.

Now, Samsung is all set to launch the Galaxy S6 edge+ in India. Samsung India sent out media invite for a launch event that will be held in New Delhi, India on August 19.

The invite doesn't mention the launch of Galaxy S6 edge+, but the tagline reads 'Experience the new Edge in innovation', indicating that the Galaxy S6 edge+ launch in the country. 

In addition, a report from The Economic Times citing Samsung's senior executive Shoneel Kolhatkar, claimed that Galaxy S6 edge+ will go on sale in India later this month, while the Galaxy Note 5 will be made available in September. He declined to reveal the pricing details.

However, the availability of the Galaxy S6 edge+ is expected to be from August 21, the same day it goes on sale globally. The Phone is priced at $815 (Rs. 53,000) and $915 (Rs. 59,800) for the 32GB and 64GB model accordingly in the U.S. We can expect the pricing to be around this mark for the Indian market as well.

To recall, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ is an upgraded version of Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. It sports a dual-edge display and features 5.7-inch QHD (1440 x 2560 pixels) Super AMOLED display, octa-core Exynos 7420 64-bit SoC clocked at 1.5GHz, 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage. For imaging there is a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 5-megapixel front shooter. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, has fingerprint sensor and comes with Fast Charging technology for both wired and wireless option. It is fueled by 3000mAh battery. The phone also features NFC and MST to power Samsung Mobile payment technology.
