Sony SmartBand 2 with heart rate monitor gets official
Sony launched the successor to its SmartBand wearable dubbed SmartBand 2. It comes equipped with a multi-sensor lifelogger that provides full-scale insights about your fitness, well being and stress levels. Plus it comes with an
advanced heart rate tracking.
Apart from health and sleep tracking, SmartBand 2 also has the ability to provide sleep insights with automatic sleep detection. There is also a smart alarm clock function which will gently vibrate to wake the user up. The device also gives users notification alerts when they receive a call, message, email or other notification when paired to your smartphone.
As there is no integrated display, the wearer will be alerted via vibration and pulsing RGB LED lights on the straps for incoming notification. It has 3 colored LEDs for notifications that can be used for different notification like incoming calls or messages. The device can even play, pause or skip through music tracks playing via phone or tablet. It supports Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC connectivity.
Sony Smartband 2 comes with combination of an accelerator and optical heart rate sensor that together measures your pulse as well as mood and stress during the day.It is IP68 certified and water resistant with immersion up to 3-meter depth. The device's battery capacity is 58mAh and lasts for two days on a single charge.
It is compatible with all Android devices running 4.4 KitKat (or higher) and iOS devices (iOS 8.2 or higher) All your health data captured by SmartBand 2 is sent to the Lifelog app that is available for compatible devices. From the app, users can check how many steps taken, staircases climbed, what places they visited and more. The device also alerts users when they go more than 10 meters away from their paired phones.
Sony SmartBand 2 has been priced at 120 Euros and will be available globally from September in 60 countries. It comes in White, Black, Pink and Indigo colors.
