Sony Xperia M5 goes official, a super mid-range phone with hybrid autofocus
Sony Mobile also announced the "Super mid-range" Xperia M5, alongside Xperia C5 Ultra. The sports the company's distinctive design with the OmniBalance style in a sleek premium glass finish on both sides. It is durable with stainless steel corners to protect against bumps and is water and dust resistant (IP65/IP68) with a capless USB port. It also comes in Single-SIM and Dual-SIM variant.
The Sony Xperia M5 sports 21.5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, IMX230 Exmor RS sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 4K video recording capabilities and 5x Clear Image Zoom. The rear camera comes with super-fast Hybrid auto-focus technology which lets users get clear shots of moving objects in 0.25 seconds. For taking selfies there is a 13-megapixel front facing camera."Xperia M5 offers the quality and performance of a compact digital camera. The result is sharp, clear and bright footage every time." says sony. The phone is also loaded with multiple camera apps like creative effect, Timeshift video, Face In and Style Potrait.
Sony Xperia M5 features 5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2. Inside there is a 2.2GHz MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795T) octa-core 64-bit processor paired with PowerVR G6200 GPU and 3GB RAM. On-board storage is 16GB, further expandable via microSD card up to 200GB. It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop. On the connectivty front it supports 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, USB 2.0 port, USB OTG and NFC. It is fueled by 2600mAh battery that delivers up to 2 days of battery life, 8 hours of full HD video watching, 12 hours talktime and 63 hours music play. It comes in Black, Gold and White flavors.
The Sony Xperia M5 will roll out in selected countries across emerging market from mid-August. Pricing details is not out yet, however, if recent reports are to be believed, the device will be priced around Rs 25,000 ($400).
