Apple iPad Pro with 12.9-inch display goes official

Apple has unveiled , iPad Pro, a huge tablet with 12.9-inch display and a resolution of 2732 x 2048 pixels. Apple marketing chief Phil Schiller's says that that tablet " can do things that a smartphone can't do, because it doesn't have to fit in your pocket, and it can do things a laptop can't do because you can hold it all day."

It is equipped with a new Apple's third gen 64-bit A9X chip with 2x memory bandwith and 2x storage performance which is 1.8x faster than the A8X in the iPad Air 2. The battery will last up to 10 hours on a single charge.It comes with 32GB/128GB storage.

The iPad Pro comes with four speakers, and the iPad auto balances left and right, depending upon the way you are holding the iPad. Apple says the new iPad Pro is powerful enough to edit three 4K streams at once.

The tablet is just 6.9mm thick, which is 0.8mm thicker compared to iPad Air 2. It weighs 712 grams, slightly heavier than the first iPad.

The tablet can run AutoCAD smoothly at 6fps. Apple also showcased a physical keyboard for the iPad Pro that uses a magnetic Smart Connector on the tablet, that carries power and data to the keyboard.

Apple also introduced Apple Pencil, a special stylus which has sensors in the tip so that it can sense pressure, tilt and stroke.

The iPad Pro is also dedicated to productivity and Apple has worked closely with Microsoft to provide support for the office suite- Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Apple's iPad Pro is priced at $799 for 32GB storage (Wi-Fi only), $949 for 128GB storage (Wi-Fi only), and $1079 for 128GB storage Wi-Fi+LTE variant and will be available in November. The Apple Pencil costs $99 and the Smart Keyboard is priced $169 and will also be available in November.
