Huawei Mate S with Force Touch technology gets official
At IFA 2015, Berlin, Huawei unveiled a new smartphone, taking aim at high end of the market, dominated by Apple and Samsung. Dubbed Mate S, it is the first smartphone to come with Force Touch display, which can distinguish between a ligh tap and deep press, enabling access to more functions just by pressing harder. The phone has a uni-body metal design.
Huawei Mate S features 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED 2.5D curved glass display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. There is also an optional Force Touch screen variant. More details of this model will be revealed next month.
Inside there is an an octa-core Huawei Kirin 935 processor that has four clusters running at 2.2GHz and four cores clocked at 1.5GHz. The phone has 3GB RAM and is offered in either 32GB or 64GB expandable storage. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with Emotion UI 3.1 on top and has Hybrid Dual SIM where the second SIM slot also accepts microSD card.
Camerawise, it sports 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, OIS and 8-megapixel front shooter which is also accompanied by LED flash for capturing better selfies. On the connectivity front the device supports 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 LE and GPS.
There is also a highly-sensitive Fingerprint Sense 2.0 on the rear panel. It is fueled by 2700mAh battery. The device measures 149.8 × 75.3 × 7.2mm, weighs 156g and comes in Titanium Grey, Mystic Champagne (32GB model) and Prestige Gold and Coral Pink (64GB model) colors.
The Huawei Mate S 32GB model is priced at 649 Euros ($730 | Rs. 48,000) and the premium 64GB model costs 699 Euros ($780 | Rs. 52,000). The phone will be available in more than 30 countries including China, France, Germany, Israel, Japan, Spain, South Africa and UAE later this month.
