Lenovo introduces Y series of gaming notebooks, desktops and accessories

At IFA trade show in Berlin Lenovo introduced its new family of gaming-themed PC and notebook under the Y series branding, ideadpad Y700 notebook and ideacentre Y900, Y700 desktops. All the Y series machines will run Windows 10 and has Intel's latest Skylake inside.

Lenovo ideapad Y700 comes with either Intels's 6th gen Core i7 CPU with Skylake architecture or with AMD processor. The notebook comes with 15.6-inch display that can either support Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) or if you have an Inter chip with Quad HD (3480 x 2160 pixels) resolution with a multi-touch screen. The ideapad Y700 can be be configured with up to 16GB RAM. 

For graphics Intel version uses NVIDIA GTX 960M GPU with 4GB GDDR5 RAM while the AMD version packs AMD Radeon graphics with support up to AMD R9 with 4GB GDDR5 RAM. The AMD model has 1TB HDD plus a 512GB SSD drive and the Intel version has 1TB HDD. Lenovo has also added Intel's RealSense 3D camera in the non-touch screen model of the notebook. Other feature include JBL speakers with Dolby Home Theatre, RED LED backlit keyboard with brightness control and a 4-cell 60WHr battery.
Lenovo ideacentre Y700 and Y900 are for those who would rather play on desktops. Both come with Intel Skylake Core i7 and i5 processors with the latest NVIDIA video cards. The ideacentre Y700 supports 4GB GeForce GTX 970 graphics and up to 32GB RAM, while the ideacentre Y900 supports up to two 4GB GeForce GTX980 graphics and up to 64GB RAM.

The ideacentre Y700 support up to 2TB of SSD for storage while the ideacentre Y900 has four hard drive slots with support up to 2TB of SSD storage. Both ideacentre Y700 and Y900 comes with four USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ports, LAN Ethernet port as well as support for 7.1 surround sound.

There is an internal cable routing system that keeps the cables neat inside. Lenovo has also left additional space inside to upgrade a cooling system on top and duster filters, to ensure the PC run cool even when gamers pust the limit.

The Intel version of the Lenovo ideapad Y700 notebook has a starting price of $799, while the AMD version starts at $999. It will be available in October. The ideacentre Y700 and Y900 prices start at $999 and $1599 accordingly and will go on sale in October.

Lenovo also introduced five custom accessories under the Y series to boost gaming experience, they include:
  • Y Gaming Surround Sound Headset: Includes 7.1 virtual surround sound, quick mute and in-line volume adjustment control box and a detachable passive, noise-cancelling microphone. The ear cups can be foldable and adjustable. Priced $69.99
  • Y Gaming Precision Mouse: Features precise, adjustable speeds, eight programmable buttons, four levels of adjustable DPI, five levels of adjustable weight and an ergonomic design made for intense gaming sessions. priced $69.99
  • Y Gaming Mechanical Switch Keyboard: Includes backlight anti-ghosting mechanical switch key matrix, six customizable keys for macro recording, five adjustable levels of brightness and a default key for controlling the Lenovo Y Gaming Surround Sound Headset and a detachable palm rest. Priced $139.99
  • Y Gaming Backpack: Fits up to a 17.3-inch laptop, includes padded pockets, a protective hard shell compartment and a chest strap for extra carrying support. Priced $99.99
  • Y Gaming Mouse Mat: High reliability and waterproof. Priced $9.99
All the accessories will hit the market in September.
