Nexbit 'Robin' cloud first Android phone announced


In August, Nexbit, a company that boasts of verterans from HTC, Apple and Google announced its plan to launch a 'fri**in awesome' phone. Now the company has taken wraps of its cloud first Android phone called Robin. The phone offers flagship level specs and is being sold through Kickstarter campaign.

Nexbit's Robin is aimed at addressing the issue of limited storage on our smartphones. The company tackles that problem by leveraging a cloud-based storage solution. For this, Nexbit is offering smart, automated uploading of the photos and other data to make space on the smartphones on-board storage. The phone is embedded with 100GB of free cloud storage. Robin will automatically backup photos and videos to cloud storage when your device is plugged in to a charge and connected to a WiFi network.

As for the specs, Robin features 5.2-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and is powered by hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor paired with 3GB RAM. On-board storage is 32GB and is non-expandable. t runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow. For imaging there a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual tone flash and 5-megapixel front shooter. Other features include fingerprint sensor, 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi, NFC, USB Type-C port. It is fueled by 2680mAh battery and comes Mint and Midnight colors.

Nexbit is selling the Robin via Kickstarter campaign with a funding goal of $500,000. The first 1000 backers can grab the phone for $299 (Rs. 19,800). After that the Kickstarter price will be $349 (Rs. 23,000). Robin eventually will retail for a price of $399 (Rs. 26,400). The first batch will ship in January next year, the next one is scheduled for February 2016. The phone will be manufactured by Foxconn.
