Garmin Forerunner 225 GPS Running Watch with Wrist-based Heart Rate launched
Popular GPS device maker Garmin launched the Forerunner 225, the first Garmin GPS running watch that measures heart rate at the wrist. Users can now run without a heart rate strap because the Forerunner 225 has a built-in heart rate technology developed by Mio, makers of industry-leading wrist-based heart rate monitors.
The built-in Heart Rate optical sensor, shines light into the user's skin and measures the amount of light returned. The sensor is designed to detect slight changes as blood pumps through the wrist, using an advanced filtering process to produce a reliable and accurate heart rate.
Garmin Forerunner 225 has a colorful graphic interface showing runners their zon and beats per minute at a glance. The built-in accelerometer provides distance. To keep runners active between workouts, it doubles as an activity tracker counting steps walked, calories burnt, distance burned and sleep monitoring. It also has a move bar with vibration alert that reminds users when they've been too inactive.
The watch is waterproof to a depth of up to 50-meters and offers four weeks of battery life when only tracking activity, and up to 10 hours with the GPS and heart rate monitor activated. It allows athletes to set goals and keep them motivated through their day.
It pairs with the smartphone via Bluetooth 4.0 and all the data is synced with Garmin Connect which can help in analyzing the activity in a better way. It comes in Black and Red straps.
The Garmain Forerunner 225 is priced at Rs. 26,500 and is available to buy on Garmin.com
