LG V10 with secondary display and dual front facing cameras gets official
LG has announced V10, the company's latest flagship that comes with an innovative secondary screen above the main display and dual-front facing camera for extra wide-angle selfies.
The second screen on the V10 can be set up as an 'always on' display to show details such as weather, time, date and battery icon when the main display is off. When the display is on use, the Second Screen can be used to launch shortcuts or favorite apps. It also offers notifications discreetly without blocking the view of the main screen when you are busy watching a movie or playing a game.
The 5-megapixel dual-front facing camera has two separate lenses that can capture standard 80-degree selfies or wide-angle selfies up to 120 degrees. It employs a special algorithm to combine images from the two separate lenses to offer better group selfies.
It has 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, OIS 2.0, Laser Auto Focus, manual mode for video to adjust options such as shutter speed, frame rate, ISO, white balance and focus while recording.
The LG V10 has a Multi-view recording feature that can capture different angles using all three camera. Some of the other video recording features include Steady Record, which uses electronic image stabilization (EIS) for recording videos; Snap Video, which creates a single video combining many short videos; 15 Sec. Auto Edit, which allows users to create a short video highlight clip by automatically eliminating blurred frames and static scenes; Quick Video Editor, which allows easy trimming or changing the frame rates and add after-effects into video; Quick Share, which offers options to share video to popular social networks; Audio Monitor, which adjusts the sensitivity of the three microphones during video recording, and Wind Noise Filter, which helps eliminate external wind noise.
For specification, LG V10 sports a 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) In-cell Touch Quantum display while the second screen is a 2.1-inch (160 x 640 pixels) IPS Quantam display. It is equipped with 1.8GHz hexa-core Snapdragon 808 SoC with Adreno 418 GPU and 4GB LPDDR3 RAM. On-board storage is 64GB, further expandable via microSD card up to 1TB.
It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and supports 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS Slim Port and NFC connectivity. There is also a fingerprint sensor (works with Android Pay in the U.S) on the back. It also has 32 bit Hi-Fi DAC by ESS Technology for an enhanced audio output and Qualcomm Technologies’ TruSignal antenna boost technology that intelligently optimizes signal strength to reduce dropped calls, faster data and better call coverage.
LG V10 fueled by 3000mAh battery and supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 technology that can charge the phone up to 50% in just 40 minutes. All this is wrapped into a body that utilizes durable silicone skin and SAE grade 316L stainless steel, which uis used to make surgical tools and high-end watches. It has a Dura Guard frame that secures the display to protect the phone from bumps and tumbles and ensure maximum durability. It meets the US Military Standard MIL-STD 810G to withstand a fall of up to 1.2 meters.
The device is 8.6mm thick, weighs 192g and comes in Space Black, Luxe White, Modern Beige, Ocean Blue and Opal Blue colors.
The LG V10 will go on sale in Korea starting this month, followed by the U.S, China and key countries in Asia, Latin America and Middle East. LG did not reveal the pricing details.
