Xiaomi launches Crayon-like AA batteries, Mi Rainbow


Xiaomi is quickly becoming an electronic manufacturer. Once known for making very affordable smartphone, has outed a slew of lifestyle products and is now looking to foray into a new segment, power. It does so with the new product.

Xiaomi has launched a crayon-like Mi Rainbow 5 AA batteries in China. At first glance, they look like crayons, especially with the translucent packaging. 

The batteries are manufactured by one of Xiaomi's ecosystem partners, Zmi, which produces Xiaomi's powerbanks. The batteries pack carbon rod from Japan's Maxell and has an unique and compact design which reduce the energy loss thus prolong the lifespan of the battery. Xiaomi claims that its can last for 7 years from manufacturing date. The brand touts that the batteries can come handy during travel time.

The multi-colored Mi Rainbow 5 AA batteries comes in a pack of 10 cells and is priced at just CNY 9.9 (Rs. 100). There are no details when it will release outside China.
