Flipkart teams up with Spice Hotspot to showcase online-only smartphones in stores

Flipkart is all set to enter the offline sales market to spread its presence to not so tech savvy users who prefer offline retailer more than Online market. For this Flipkart has joined hands with Spice Hotspot, to showcase its smartphone protfolio in retail stores across India.

Flipkart is calling this as 'assisted e-commerce model' as trained store staff will assist customers to place their order on the Flipkart app, and they can take the delivery of the phone at the store or at their home.

Both the companies will set up exclusive experience zones to live demo the smartphones in these stores. The displayed products will be exclusive to Flipkart and not found on any other online and offline retailer.

Flipkart here aims to attract users who want to feel the phone in their hands befor buying one, which is offcourse not possible when buying them online. This could be mainly useful in Tier-3 and Tier-4 towns where online shopping is still catching up.

"This initiative will empower and ease customers from smaller cities to shop online" said Sandeep Karwa, Flipkart retail director, in a statement.
