UMi Iron Pro is a $180 smartphone with fingerprint and Eyeprint ID sensors


UMi, the Chinese smartphone maker, has announced the UMi Iron Pro in its home market. UMi touts the Iron Pro to be world's most secure smartphone. For this the smartphone features fingerprint sensor which takes just 0.32 seconds to unlock the phone and Iris scanner called Eyeprint ID which uses the veins in your eyes to recognise you.

The UMi Iron Pro features 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek Helio X10 octa-core 64-bit processor with 3GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage, further expandable via microSD card up to 64GB. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and supports a wide range of ROMs such as CyanogenMod and MIUI via the UMI Rootjoy PC tool

It is equipped with 13-megapixel rear camera with a dual-LED flash, a Sony IMX 214 sensor, f/2.0 lens, and an 8-megapixel front shooter with an LED flash, f/2.2 aperture, and an OmniVision OV8858 sensor.

The phone supports 2 nanoSIM cards as well as 4G LTE connectivity upto 150Mbps. The SIM slot is a hybrid nano-SIM slot (second SIM slot can be used as microSD card slot). In addition, there is supprot for USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and A-GPS connectivity. It packs a beefy 3350mAh battery which offers 10-12 days of standby time. All this is encased in a body made out of aircraft-grade aluminum body.

The device also sports a dedicated headphone amplifier that offers a noise-free experience. In addition, there’s also the Skyline notification LED feature at the bottom of the device.

The UMi Iron Pro is priced at $179.99 (Rs. 12,000). It is listed on the company's website and it's available for purchase.
