Chrome for Android can now save more data by blocking images
Accessing mobile websites on a slow connection can be frustrating, as it can use a lot of data and tracking usage becomes difficult. Keeping this in mind, Google introduced the Data Saver mode in Chrome for Android, which reduces the amount of data used when browsing the web.
Now, Google has updated Chrome of Android with an improved Data Saver mode, that reduces the amount of data used when you visit a webpage. With the latest update, Chrome saves data up to 70 percent. To turn on the the Data Saver mode withing Chrome for Android, go to settings > Data Saver > On.
When Data Saver mode is enabled Chrome automatically load websites without image. Chrome will pop-up a message at the bottom of the screen - "Slow connection detected" when it realizes that your connection is slow. After the page is loaded, you can tap to show all images or just the ones which you need to see. As a result browsing web becomes faster and cheaper to access on slow connections.
The new Data Saver mode for Chrome will first roll out to users in India and Indonesia, followed by other countries in the coming months.
