LG's SmartThinQ is a smart home hub with its own display and can stream music
LG has announced a new IoT-enabled (Internet of Things) SmartThinQ Hub, that will be showcased at CES 2016. LG's SmartThinQ Hub is basically a Bluetooth speaker, that also lets you control smart home appliances. It acts as a "gateway" to your connected home, with the ability to control and monitor information from smart appliances.
Some of the smart appliances SmartThinQ Hub can control include washing machines, refregirators, ovens, robotic vacuum cleaners, air conditioners and other home sensors. The communication is done when the hub connects to smartphone via an app.
The SmartThinQ Hub features a 3.5-inch LCD display, where it shows reminders from personal calendar. It will also show data gathered from smart appliances as notifications or announce through the built-in speaker of the hub. The hub connects to smart appliances as well as conventional devices via WiFi, Zigbee and Bluetooth to collect data. The hub can also stream music from free radio stations via iHeartRadio or even play through connected smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth.
The LG SmartThinQ Hub sports a metallic body and comes in Champagne Gold and Black colors. It will be compatible with several other devices from other manufacturers and service providers that support AllJoyn Alliance open source framework.
LG will showcase the SmartThinQ Hub along with SmartThinQ sensor and other IoT products at CES in Las Vegas from January 6 to 9, 2016.
