Micromax teams up with Transerv to bring native payments solution to smartphone

Micromax has announced a strategic partnership with TranServ, a leading mobile payments company, for rolling out payment solutions targeted at "mobile first consumers" in India. 

The new partnership will allow Micromax users to conduct financial and social transactions such as sending or requesting money, splitting  bills, sending gifts to friends and making payments through native phone integration.

Micromax will provide an all pervasive payments layer to the services ecosystem that will work even beyond Micromax devices. TranServ has also partnered with banks and there will be a Visa card powered by partner bank that will be offered to Micromax customers, which will alllow then to use the service even if offline. The service is opt-in and come's pre-installed on future Micromax devices and via software update to existing devices.

Considering that, there are already a number of mobile wallet services in India, it will be interesting to see how Micromax uses its brand name and how it connects with customers with the payments ecosystem.
