The Surface Phone will be a premium device and different of Lumia devices. It will be designed by Surface Chief Panos Panay, the same person that built the Surface Pro tablet line and the new Surface Book. The report states that the Surface phone replaces a metal-clad Intel-powered Windows 10 phone. The cancelled device is said to be a carryover from Microsoft's purchase of Nokia Devices and services.

The Surface Phone that is also being called as Panos Phone, is undergoing prototype testing at Microsoft campus in Redmon, Washington. The details of the Surface Phone are scarce at the moment except that it will be a metal one.
