Revamped Yahoo Messenger adds unsend feature, GIF support, fun group chats and more
The most popular IM service, especially in the late 90's, Yahoo Messenger is making a coming back. Yahoo has revamped its app for mobile, Desktop and within Yahoo mail, making it faster smarter and better than ever before.
Yahoo has added a whole new and unique features. It now focuses on group messaging as well and now you can name each conversation group, for instance, one for 'school friends' or "office peeps". Anyone in the group can invite their friend and add to the group. It also includes a "Smart Contacts" feature powered by Xobni and offers smart suggestion when searching contacts.
That's not all, another highlight is photo sharing that unlike any other messaging service today. Yahoo messenger downgrades the photos just like Whatsapp to reduce load times for everyone and send them quicker. It also lets you download full size photos if you want to save them in your camera roll, but it takes a while to do so. First a small preview of the photo is uploaded and appears in the conversation, and the original photo is then uploaded in the background.
Yahoo owns Flickr and with its integration into Yahoo Messenger, now you can send hundreds of photos at a time and they appear to everyone in the conversation instantly. Yahoo has also included the ability to "Unsend" messages, photos or GIF from the conversation for all participants. You can also like or heart (like Instagram) any comment, photo and GIF as well. Users will also be able to search and find perfect GIF within the new Yahoo Messenger app from the Tumblr.
The Yahoo Messenger is now available for Android and iOS devices and for Desktop as well.
