Android Marshmallow now on 0.6 percent devices, Lollipop hits 32.6%
According to Google's Android distribution data for the month of January, Android Marshmallow adoption has gone up slightly. It now runs on 0.7 percent devices as compared to 0.5 percent last month, a 0.2 percent increase.
Android Lollipop adoption continues to soar and is now present in 32.6 percent (5.0 - 16.9 percent / 5.1 - 15.7 percent) devices, up from 29.5 percent. The Android 4.4.x KitKat is still ruling with 36.1 percent, but is steadily going down in charts by 0.5 percent from last months 36.6 percent.
Android Jelly Bean adoption also saw a drop from 26.9 percent to 24.7 percent. Android Ice Cream Sandwich registered a share of 2.7 percent, down by 0.2 percent since December. Gingerbread has fallen to 3 percent while Froyo has a share still stands at 0.2 percent.
Note that, the above figures are gathered from devices visiting the Google Play app, which supports Android 2.2 and above. We can expect Android Marshmallow adaptation rate to increase as more devices will be updated to Android 6.0 in the coming days.
