Garmin quatix 3 Marine GPS smartwatch is perfect for marine-related activity

Popular GPS device maker, Garmin has announced the quatix 3 Marine GPS smartwatch, aimed at marine-related activities. It is equipped with cruising, fishing and sailing capabilities.

The Garmin quatix 3 comes pre-loaded with marine specific feature sets, watch faces, multi sport activities (golfing, SUP, rowing, swimming, hiking, skiing, running and more), fitness tracking capabilities, smart notifications, navigational & marine toolset and alarm clock. It also comes with anchor alarm to warn users of drift as well as anchor rode calculator that tells uses that proper length of anchor line to put out.

The smartwatch has a rugged, sleek form factor and sunlight-readable high-resolution color display with an LED backlight. It is water rated for up to 10 meters and has a high-strength, scratch resistant domed sapphire lens with glass fiber reinforced housing, so that it can withstand most water activities. The omni directional stainless steel EXO antenna and GPS with GLONASS support offers ability to track in more challenging environments.

The fitness tracking capabilities include daily steps tracking, distance covered and sleep monitoring. All the data collected can be synced with compatible smartphone via Connect mobile app. The smartwatch also offers notification for calls, texts and email. The quatix 3 boasts up to 20 hours of battery life in GPS mode, 50 hours in UltraTrac mode and six weeks in watch mode.

The smartwatch wirelessly streams NMEA 2000 boat data from compatible on-board Garmin marine devices so that users will have access to important sensor information including speed, depth, temperature, wind data and more. It also comes with a dedicated MOB (Man Overboard boat) hotkey that allows users to drop an MOB waypoint and start navigation back to that point. There is also 3-axis electronic compass, barometer, and auto-calibrating altimeter.

For fishers, the smartwatch offers competition timer and fish catch log to help users keep track of the fish they've caught. For sailors, the quatrix 3 features track assist, race countdown timers, distance to start line, and time to burn.

The quatix 3 is expected to be available in Q1 2016 with a retail price of $599.99.
