The new Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet runs Windows 10 and gets more processing power


Dell has launched the 2016 edition of its Venue 8 Pro 5000 tablet. The 2016 edition runs Windows 10, comes with improved hardware for more processing power and has a Thunderbolt 3/USB Type-C port.

The Dell Venue 8 Pro 2016 edition sports a 8-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and is powered by 2.24GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z8500 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB eMMC internal storage. The tablet supports Active Pen (optional), which can be used for for note-taking and drawing.

It is equipped with 5-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front camera. The tablet comes with a micro-SIM slot, microSD card slot (up to 128GB accepted) and supports LTE, USB Type-C, Wi-Fi 2×2 802.11ac with Miracast, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC connectivity. It is backed by 19.5 Whr battery.

By comparison, the old Venue 8 Pro tablet had a 8-inch 720p display, 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z3740 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB/64GB storage, 5MP rear & 1.2MP front camera and a micro USB port. It was launched back in 2014 for $299 and up.

Dell is selling the new Venue 8 Pro for $399 (27,000) for Windows 10 Home version and the Windows 10 Pro version costs $449 (Rs. 30,000). It is available for purchase from company website. Dell's Active Pen will cost an extra $40.
