Amazon Tap, Echo Dot Alexa-powered devices announced
Building on the success of the household virtual assistant Echo, Amazon has introduced two new products under the same series - Amazon Tap, a portable speaker, and Echo Dot, a tiny disk.
The Amazon Tap is a Alexa-enabled Bluetooth and WiFi enabled speaker, that has dual stereo speakers with Dolby processing that offers crisp vocals, extended bass and 360 degrees omni-directional audio. It is equipped with seven microphones and users can access Alexa through the microphone button. By tapping on the microphone button, you can ask Alexa to play music, read news, search for information, order pizza with the Alexa voice services. The portable speaker can also stream all your music from your phone or tablet via Bluetooth. It offers 9 hours of playback on a single charge and comes with a charging cradle.
The Echo dot is a hands-free, voice controlled device that also uses Alexa's voice recognition to play music, read news and more. It can be connected to home speakers with an audio cable via Bluetooth, to add voice-control to the home stereo system. It comes with a small built-in speaker, so you can place it in any room and use it as a smart alarm clock or use it to control smart home devices and more.
The Amazon Tap costs $130, and can now be ordered from Amazon (U.S). Shipping begins March 31. The Echo Dot is priced at $90 and is exclusively available for Prime memebers through Alexa Voice Shopping.
