Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 edge has moisture detection sensor in USB port

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are IP68 certified making them water resistant, but both have their micro USB port exposed. It turns out that Samsung has installed a moisture detection sensor on the USB port, that won't allow you to charge the Galaxy S7/S7 edge when the charging port is wet.

The moisture sensor in the USB port alerts the user when they are plugging in their charger, if the port is wet and disables the charging completely. The alert message reads "Moisture detected in charging port". A XDA developer, got this error, when he tried charging his Galaxy S7 edge, after he took an underwater photo.

It is being said that Samsung has made the moisture sensor so extremely sensitive, that using a third party charger that's not up to spec also results in the same message.

Samsung in the Galaxy S7/S7 edge user manual also points that users need to dry the USB port (if wet) before plugging the charger. The manual notes "If you charge the device while the multipurpose jack is wet, the device may be damaged. Thoroughly dry the multipurpose jack before charging the device."

This is a handy feature as it would save the device from getting fried.
