Xiaomi Mi 5 India launch set for March 31

At the launch event of Redmi Note 3 in India, Hugo Barra, VP of Xiaomi Global said that the Mi 5 flagship will launch in the country within a month. As promised the company has confirmed that it will launch the Mi 5 in India on March 31.

To recap, the Xiaomi Mi 5 was unveiled at an event in China as well as MWC 2016 in Barcelona last month. The Mi 5 sports a 5.15-inch 1080p display and is equipped with Snapdragon 820 SoC, 3GB/4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB inbuilt expandable storage, 16MP rear camera w/ PDAF, 4-axis OIS and 4-megapixel front camera. It also includes a fingerprint sensor, Infrared sensor, USB Type-C port, 3000mAh battery w/ Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 and runs MIUI 7 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 comes in three vairants 1.8GHz Snapdragon 820 SoC/3GB RAM/32GB storage, 2.15GHz Snapragon 820 SoC/3GB RAM/64GB storage and Pro variant with 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820 SoC/4GB RAM/128GB storage. It is not known which variant Xiaomi will make available for the Indian market.

As for the pricing, President Bin Lin recently revealed that the Mi 5 will be priced between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 27,000 in India.
