HP Spectre 13 is the world's thinnest laptop at 10.4mm
HP has expanded its Spectre line of premium notebook with a new thin and light model, the Spectre 13, which the company claims to be the world’s thinnest laptop. The HP Spectre 13 is just 10.4mm (0.41-inches) thick, which is thinner than Apple's MacBook, which has a thickness of 13.1mm.
The HP Spectre 13 sports a 13.3-inch edge-to-edge 1080p IPS display topped with Gorilla Glass making the display scratch-resistant. For processor it supports either Intel's sixth generation Core i5 or Core i7 processor and can be configured with up to 8GB RAM and up to 512GB PCIe SSD storage.
The laptop includes 3 x USB Type-C connectors, wherein two of them supports Thunderbolt technology. It runs Windows 10 and houses stereo speaker by Bang & Olufsen with HP Audio Boost technology. It promises to offer 9.5 hours of battery life between charges.
The HP Spectre 13 has a carbon fiber bottom, a CNC machined aluminum chassis, copper accents with hand polished jewellery like finish and a hidden piston hinge, that allows the display to open and close much like a cabinet. It weighs 2.4 pounds (or 1.1kg).
The HP Spectre 13 prices start at $1169.99 (Rs. 78,000) and will be up for pre-order on HP.com and BBY.com starting April 25. It will also be available in Best Buy stores on May 22, with a slightly higher price tag of $1249.99.
HP also unveiled two luxury models of the Spectre 13, one designed by Tord Boontje that comes in 18-karat gold, and the other designed by Jess Hannah, which is gold-plated and has diamond. There is no word on pricing, but HP says that both luxury models will be showcased at New York Times International Luxury Conference in Versailles, France.
