HTC 10 is now official
Without much fanfare, HTC has finally introduced its flagship, the HTC 10. The HTC 10 drops the One moniker and offers a new metal design, improved camera specs and enhanced performance, as compared to its predecessors.
HTC is touting the HTC 10 as the world's first smartphone to features OIS on both front and rear camera. It is also the first device to have 24-bit Hi-Res audio recording, which allows to capture 256 times more details than standard recording, when capturing a video.
The HTC 10 flaunts a full-metal body with chamfered rear frame, and the front panel has a layer of glass. HTC says that the phone is sturdy as it has passed some extensive durability and temperature test. Below the display, there is home button which doubles as fingerprint sensor, which is capable on unlocking the phone in 0.2 seconds.
The HTC 10 sports a 5.2-inch QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) Super LCD 5 display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor paired with 4GB RAM. It comes in two variants - 32GB and 64GB, with storage expansion supports via microSD card (up to 3TB). It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Sense 8.0 UI on top,
that has Freestyle Layout that lets you place Stickers all over the wallpaper, with each sticker representing an application.
Camera-wise, it sports 12MP Ultrapixel 2 rear camera with 1.55um pixels, f/1.8 aperture, OIS, laser auto focus and dual LED flash. It can record 4K videos and includes 12X slow-mo mode, Pro camera mode and hyperlaps. For selfies, it gets a 5MP front camera with ultra-wide angle lens, OIS, 1.34um pixels and f/1.8 aperture.
Connectivity duties are handled by 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n (2.4 and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS with GLONASS, NFC and USB Type-C. It is fueled by 3000mAh battery, that supports QuickCharge 3.0. It also gets BoomSound HiFi edition speakers with Dolby audio, and three microphones with noise cancellation button.
The HTC 10 prices start at $699, and will start rolling out from early May. It comes in Carbon Grey, Glacier Silver, Topaz Gold, and Camellia Red (exclusive to Japan) color.
