Lenovo Vibe P1 gets Android 6.0 Marshmallow in India
After rolling out Android Marshmallow to A7000, Lenovo has started pushing the update to the Vibe P1 smartphone in India. The update weighs in at 1.67GB in size and is being rolled out over-the-air in phases, so it will take a while to hit your device.
You can check for the update at Settings > About Phone > System Update. Before updating make sure that you've 2GB of space on the phone, and connect to a good WiFi network.
The update has build number p1a42_S152_160126_ROW_TO_p1a42_S263_160427_ROW, and brings features including Doze mode (to cut off background activity when phone is in standby), App permissions, Google Now on Tap and more. The update also includes Android security patch for the month of March. Lenovo says that you'll have to register your fingerprint again for the fingerprint lock after the update.
To recall the Lenovo Vibe P1 was launched in India last year for Rs. 15,999 and is now available for Rs. 15,499. The main highlight of the phone is the massive 5000mAh battery with OTG charging support, which essentially turns the phone into a power bank. The Vibe P1 comes with 5.5-inch 1080p display w/ Gorilla Glass 3 protection, Snapdragon 615 SoC, 2GB RAM, 32GB inbuilt expandable storage, 13MP/5MP rear and front camera, dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE, NFC and fingerprint scanner.
So far, Lenovo has updated the K3 Note, A7000 and now the Vibe P1 to Android Marshmallow. Next in line is the Vibe X3, Vibe P1, A7000 Plus, Vibe K4 Note, K5/K5 Plus in the coming months.
