Samsung Galaxy S5 gets Android Marshmallow update in India

Samsung earlier this month rolled out Android Marshmallow update for the Galaxy Note 4 in India, and now the Galaxy S5 has also started receiving Android Marshmallow update in the country.

The new update bumps the firmware version to G900IDDU1CPD1, and is being rolled out over-the-air (OTA) in phases. Alternatively, you can do a manual check by heading over to Settings > About phone > Software update.

The official change-log of the update for Galaxy S5 is now available at the moment. However, we can expect it to include stability improvements, enhanced performance, bug fixes and improvements to the TouchWiz UI. It will also bring Marshmallow goodies including Doze Mode, App Permission, Google Now on Tap, App Links, new fingerprints APIs and more, and also include Android Security Patch.

With Android Marshmallow update, Samsung Galaxy S5 gets a new lease of life. To recap, the Galaxy S5 was launched in the country at Rs. 51,500, and is now available for as low as Rs. 17,999. The specs include 5.1-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, 1.9GHz octa-core Exynos 5420 SoC, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, 16MP rear camera, 2.1MP front camera, water resistant, heart rate sensor, fingerprint scanner and 2800mAh battery.

Samsung has updated most of its recent flagship to Android Marshmallow, including the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy Note 4.
