Android Marshmallow hits 7.5% adoption rate
Google has released the Android distribution number for the month of May. The numbers are compiled from Android devices accessing the Google Play Store, in a seven-day period ending on May 2.
According to the latest data, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow now has a adaption rate of 7.5 percent, a 2.9 percent increase from the April figure of 4.6 percent.
The Android Lollipop has seen a slight drop in the share and is now present on 35.6 percent of active devices, down from 35.8 percent. But it still remains the most installed version of Android Android KitKat, which was run on 33.4 percent of active devices in April has now dropped to 32.5 percent in May, a decrease of 0.9 percent.
The rest of the Android OS also saw drop in the share. Jelly Bean went down from 21.3 percentto 20.1 percent , Ice Cream Sandwhich dropped from 2.2 percent to 2.0 percent, while Ginerbread is running on 2.2 percent of devices down from 2.6 percent in the same period. Froyo is still hanging on as it is present in just 0.1 percent of active devices,
