Pebble smartwatches arrive in India, prices start at Rs. 5,999

Smartwatch pioneer Pebble has now officially landed in India. The upstart known for its successful Kickstarter campaign has launched its Pebble Classic, Pebble Time, Pebble Time Round and Pebble Time Steel smartwatches in India.

All the Pebble smartwatches offers always-on e-ink display, longer battery life (up to 10 days) and compatibility with Android (4.0.3+) and iOS (8+), Watch faces, notification alerts and other usual smartwatch features. They also come with interchangeable bands that can be swapped with any regular watch straps available in the market. On the flip side, the Pebble smartwatches miss out on touch-sensitive display and heart rate monitor. 

Pebble Classic
The Pebble Classic is encased in plastic and sports a rubber strap. It has 1.26-inch monochrome e-ink display with 144 x 168 pixel resolution, and the battery can last for a week. The watch is waterproof and has inbuilt sensors including ambient light and accelerometer. In addition to offering alerts for calls and notification, music controls, it can also track physical activity including step count and sleep patterns. It comes in Red, White, Black and a limited edition Pink colors. 

Pebble Time
The Pebble time gets a color e-ink display (1.25-inch) w/ Gorilla glass proctection and microphone for responding to notification or take short voice note. Other features include water resistant for up to 30m, tactile buttons for eyes-free clicking, silent vibrating alarms, language and international character support, and a week of battery life. It comes in Red, White and Black color. 

Pebble Time Steel
The Pebble Time Steel is encase in metal and offers up to 10 days of battery life. It also comes with always-on color e-paper display w/ Gorilla glass protection, microphone for voice replies, Tactile button, silent vibrating alarm, and is water resistant. It comes with leather bands with the option of Black, Gold or Silver colors.

Pebble Time Round
The Pebble Time Round is claimed to be thinnest (7.5mm) smartwatch in the market and weighs just 28g. It comes with a circular display, IPX7 rating for splash resistant and microphone for voice replies. Due to the slimness, the watch has to make compromise to the battery life which is rated to for up to two days of use, but it makes up for that, by offering quick charge feature, that promises 24 hours of battery life with just 15 minutes of charge. Pebble Time Round come in Silver Stone color with 14mm leather strap and black color with 20mm leather strap.

Apart from Pebble Classic, which does not feature color display and microphone, the Pebble family is similar in terms of operation and software interface. They come with four buttons (one on left, other three on the right) and runs Pebble OS. The watch faces and apps can be download from the Pebble App store, which can be access on your Android phone or iPhone. The app store has over 13,000 apps and watch faces
