Samsung Galaxy Note 6 to be reportedly named Galaxy Note 7

If a new report is to be believed, Samsung's upcoming Note series flagship will be called Galaxy Note 7, and not Galaxy Note 6. According to ET News, Samsung will be skipping the Galaxy Note 6 branding, to bring the phablet in line with the current Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, in terms of branding. Samsung is doing so to eliminate inconsistencies when it comes to branding its product.

Another reason for the Galaxy Note 7 branding could be to compete with Apple's iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

The report also states that Samsung believes that the dual-edge screens are big selling point for the country, so it will be merging the Galaxy S6 edge+ and Note to a single mobile device. This means the Galaxy Note 7 will come in just one variant with dual-edges as the standard model. It is also expected to have curved edges on front and back.

Based on earlier reports, the Galaxy Note 7 will come with 5.8-inch QHD curved display, Snapdragon 823 SoC/ Exynos 8 octa 8890 SoC (for Asian market), 6GB RAM, 12MP Dual Pixel rear camera, USB Type-C and 4000mAh battery.

Samsung is expected to unveiled the Galaxy Note 7 in mid-August.
